Welcome to the final part of this series. (Read Part I and Part II.) The weakness in the U.S. dollar is something that personally affects the quality of life for every U.S. citizen.

I wish I could tell you there is something new and positive to report about the greenback, but the only thing new are the new lows that have been reached by the U.S. Dollar Index, which reached yet another 15-year low the week of September 24, 2007 (see Figure 1).

Candlestick charting found its way to the western world in the 1990s. Since then, it's become more popular than simple line or bar charts. But, traders still misinterpret these marvels of technical analysis in spite of their wide usage. The problem lies in the failure to interpret candlestick patterns within the context of other price action.

The candlestick's real body shows layers of movement within a single time period, highlighted by the relationship between the open and close of the price bar. The real body gets one color when the open finishes above the close and a different color when the close finishes above the open.

In his latest book, he provides an unambiguous, well defined and precise approach that seems to make a lot of sense. Written in a straightforward, no-nonsense style, this book is, in my opinion, indispensable reading for any investor…rookie or veteran.

I find few things more gratifying than reading a book that is intelligently written and imparts practical knowledge on the difficult task of extracting profits from the marketplace. Perry Kaufman's Smarter Trading rates high on the short list of books that I would place in this category. Two books, which I have previously reviewed and which shall remain nameless, struck me as very intelligently written, yet they taught me nothing that I felt would prove to be practical for use in trading Euros or soybeans next week. Two others, Gallacher's Winner Take All (now, unfortunately, out of print) and Elder’s Trading for a Living, stand out as two of my own favorites and are among my standard recommendations to new traders.

(RTTNews) - Crude oil gained for a third straight session on Wednesday as Tropical Storm Gustav continued its trek towards the Gulf of Mexico. Light sweet crude for October ended at $118.15, up $1.88 on the session. Prices reached as high as $119.63 in the early going.
